Norwegian Forest Small Pendant

Norwegian Forest lights draw on a classic Scandinavian tradition of using thin birch strips for lighting. Norwegian Forest lights show a deep pine forest with animals in light and shade. When lit, the blonde birch veneer shines with a warm glow, and the delicately cut forest motif lets light to filter out between the trees.

The 31 cm wide shade is made from thin double layered birch veneer, 1st grade on both inside and outside The birch veneer is carefully laser cut by a skilled airplane model maker who knows his birch veneer. The simple shape of the shade and the structure of the wood is challenged by the intricate pattern cut into it - made possible through a close relation to the material and a succesion of test cuttings. The steel frame is custom made at a metal workshop and powder coated white. The shade is hand sewn onto the steel frame using natural leather lace. All the parts are assembled by hand in the designer’s Oslo studio.
